A good bifold door installation in Cheltenham comes down to what happens before the doors arrive, not just the day they go in. The survey, the structural checks, and the threshold detail decide whether the finished doors run true and seal properly for years, or bind and draught within months.

The single most important stage happens before anything is ordered.

For a straightforward residential job, the gap between survey and fitting is usually a few weeks. Trade projects working to a build programme are scheduled around the wider job.
The installation itself, for a standard set into a prepared opening, is usually a one day job. Larger or more complex sets, or openings that need making good first, can run longer.
The old doors or window come out first. The opening is then prepared and checked again for square and level. The frame goes in, fixed and packed so it sits true, because the frame being level is what lets every panel hang and fold correctly afterwards.
The panels are hung next and the hardware adjusted. This is where experience shows. A bifold door has adjustment built into its hinges and carriages, and setting each panel so it meets its neighbour cleanly, seals evenly, and folds without catching is skilled work rather than a case of hanging and walking away.
We check the seal compression along every joint, test the locking at each point, and run the doors through their full fold and stack repeatedly before we consider the job done. The multi-point security only works properly if the doors are set correctly, so this is checked as standard, not as an extra.
The threshold is where a lot of installations are quietly let down.
A low threshold gives that near-flush finish between the internal floor and the patio that most people want, but it demands precise work to weather properly at the same time. Set too proud and you have a trip point and a visible step. Set without care and water finds its way in. On accessibility-led projects the threshold detail matters even more.
After the doors are in and running, the reveals are made good, any plaster or brickwork disturbed during the fit is tidied, and the site is cleared. On a straight replacement this is minor. Where a window has become doors, expect more making good and factor decoration in afterwards.
